Customer questions & answers
Would this be a good camera to put on top of a TV in a conference room to do calls on skype in a group?
I installed one of these in the main conference room of my previous workplace. The lens was suitable to capture the entire room well, and the built-in microphone did a fantastic job of picking up all the voices, including those furthest in the back. In fact, the built-in mic did a much better job than the specialized conference calling unit that sat on the conference table. If you wish to install it in a video conferencing scenario in either a business or a classroom it will not disappoint.
Is it possible to attach the camera to the monitor?
Yes and no; it depends on the monitor. The stand articulates in three directions and has a rubber friction material that is really “grippy.” The overall design is excellent, but a little hard to describe the engineering. I use the device mainly with my iMac and it mounts on top of the monitor/computer with good stability. The stand also has a standard screw-in port for a tripod and I can see how this would be really useful … you can buy small-camera tripods (mine is made by Targus and has telescoping legs) for a few dollars thru Amazon or you can go to Wal*Mart or Target. It would also mount very nicely with a Gorilla Pod. Hope tho helps! 🙂
Could I record 8 continuous hours with this camera? If not then how many hours, would you recommend it for shooting a low budget seminar?
This is a Webcam. It connects to a computer and does not have its own storage of any type.
Can this webcam work with Windows 8.1?
Yes, the camera will work with Windows 8.1. Logitech provides a camera controller app as well. see here: http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-us/app/logitech-camera-controller/02b3d909-8b3f-49e1-8928-6a92f53e5217
is it compatible with mac?
I’d just like to add that I was unable to find any software for the camera that works on a Mac OSX, with the result that many of the features don’t work, including picture adjustment. On my Mac Pro, the picture is higher-res and significantly better than my old webcam, but it’s also significantly over-exposed.
Has anyone used this camera on a TV? IE: At a distance of 6-12 feet? I am wondering how well the audio quality is at a <more than desktop> distance
I use this everyday (practically) on TV for Skype with family in India. Moreover, it has great audio and noise cancellation and I never had any complaints from family about the echo.
Is there a way to record in another format other than MP4?
Yes just choose a software that can record in other formats like OBS.
How would you rate the mic?
I’ve been using the Logitech C920 for a year and a half now to Skype with family in Australia (I’m in the US). They tell me the sound quality is quite good (very clear, no hissing, skipping, crackling, etc.). I’m not sure why one reviewer said you’d need a separate mic. Both the C920 and the C922x have dual built-in mics to capture sound in stereo. Just a note on the C920’s video image — I’m usually Skyping late at night in the US (which is morning in Australia), and it’s quite dark in my bedroom. The C920 does a fantastic job in low light.
